Music and more at the busy 'Bash Out' festival

 

THE STAR Inn at Vogue, near St Day is gearing up for a major charity event this weekend.

Saturday sees The Bash Out The Back festival of live music, real ales and more.
Ten bands, including Gadjo Guitares, the Criminal Suspects, Section 8 and Strange Brew, will perform on two stages.

Outside, there will be a samba band, stalls, a play bus, children's rides, a wild west show, search and rescue display, a magician, vintage cars, motor bikes and steam engines.

There will also be, a dog show and strongest man competition, a buskers' corner, with the money going to charity, and more than 20 real ales and ciders available.

All performers are donating their services, the ales are donated by breweries, the marquee is supplied free and everyone working there on the day is volunteering their time.

Entry is £2 per adult, with free entry for children.

Football Fever

LOCAL PUBS SET TO CELEBRATE EURO 2012

Sports fans should get set for a superb schedule of entertainment and coverage as Euro 2012 hits pubs across the county for a fantastic football fix. Transmitting the action live as it happens, they will be running a series of adopt a team, sweepstakes and food offers while England plays.

With Euro 2012 kicking off on the 8^th June, Ireland’s first match is Sunday 10^th at 7.45pm while England begins its bid for glory on Monday 11^th at 5pm.

The Bell Inn, Helston Garden

The Bell Inn in Helston will be one of the best places to watch the games as with it’s recently installed new 50in TVs you’ll feel as though you’re practically on the pitch itself. Boasting a brilliant garden with a large screen, outside bar and covered area with another screen means that you can enjoy the season and sports in spectacular, comfy surrounds.

Serving a premium range of European beers, Falmouth’s Prince of Wales pub starts celebrating in earnest on Sunday 10^th with Irish music in the afternoon and a special Irish stew before the match.

Peterville Inn, St Agnes

Offering not-to-be-missed deals on food and beer, St Agnes’ locals – the Railway Inn and Peterville Inn will both be showing all of the matches throughout June. In addition, the Railway Inn will also be hosting a charity football quiz on the 13^th June.

Serving free food at half time on all England matches - the Trelowarren in Budock Water will theme the menu to the team England are playing for a novel and flavoursome twist.

Ashton’s Lion and Lamb will be holding a competition to find the best football fan in addition to a raffle, sweepstakes and fabulous half time food offers. They will also be holding a special ‘WAG’-themed party on the 8^th June where guests are invited to don as much ‘bling’ and dress as glitzy as possible!

Rising Sun, Truro

The Rising Sun in Truro will be showing all of the matches with food offers and a football quiz while the Cornishman in Crantock is a superbly scenic spot to catch up on all the sports news and watch a game over dinner after a lazy day on the beach.

Traditional Irish bar, Finn McCouls in Falmouth is pulling out all the stops to pay festive homage to its team by serving the best Guinness on town alongside live big screen coverage.

Watch the games outside and under cover at Scorrier’s Plume of Feathers’ or enjoy some community spirit at the Rock Inn, Roche, St Austell- who will be supporting England every step of the way with their very own football team at the pub.

Also screening all England games will be the White Hart in St Keverne, while the Three Tuns across the square in the village will be a football free zone!

What's on in Falmouth over the Jubilee Weekend

Pubs across Falmouth are set to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in spectacular style.

The Prince of Wales pub on Market Strand will be serving festive food on a special ‘Ration Book Menu’ from Saturday, June 2 to Tuesday, June 5, and will host a special ‘Big Lunch’ on Sunday, June 3 and a Diamond Jubilee tea with cakes and music on Monday, June 4.

Live music with Graham Hart will be the main attraction at the Trelowarren Arms in Budock Water on Saturday, June 2, while local band Unsung Heroes will play at the venue on the following day.

On the bank holiday Monday (June 4), a special picnic in the park event will be held in the village, with the pub providing refreshments for revellers.

Meanwhile, Falmouth’s Seaview Inn will be holding a Jubilee Burger Festival throughout the bank holiday weekend, with a variety of burgers, homemade chips and a selection of pub favourites from £6.

The Old Plough, Shortlanesend is re opening

The pub in Shortlanends is going to re open on Thursday 24th May. 

Brian and Sharon from the City Inn have taken over the Old Plough and they are going to be changing it back into a community pub which will be at the centre of the village.

The food menu will be back from Monday 28th May menu below, Sunday Carvery will be starting from the 3rd June

To help get the community back together and using the pub again they will be holding on Bank Holiday Monday a Jubilee party with a BBQ from 2pm -6pm  for all the family to enjoy. They will be doing different bits throughout the day to keep families happy and some special surprises so all are welcome hopefully the weather will be nice for us, see you on the 4th June.
